Brockton Sweeps Durfee in Track & Field

The Brockton track and field teams both emerged as winners over Southeast Conference foe Durfee but at very different margins of victory. The Boxer boys displayed complete domination, winning 102-11, while the Brockton girls won by the slimmest of margins, 66-65.

For the Brockton boys, Christensen Paul and Aaron Russell were double-winners. Paul took the 100 meters and long jump, while Russell took top honors in the discus and shot put. In the hurdles, Boxers Antonio Tobon won the 400 meters, while Henry Tait took first in the 11 meters. Mike Darche (javelin), Jaden Lopes-Ribeiro (high jump), Nick O’Connell (2 mile) and Gavin Gareri (800 meters) were Brockton’s other winners.

In the girls action, Brockton’s Taylor Campbell won shot put with a new personal best throw of 33’5”. Kiica Garnier took first in the 400 meter hurdles, while Janelle Murphy won the 2 mile event. The Boxers’ relay teams were outstanding. The 4×100 meter team of Catherine Moyes, Desiree Santos, Lucieny Tavares, and Issys Price took first with a time of 54.8 seconds, while the 4×400 meter team of Edeh Ugbo, Gabby Warner, Aniyha Hill, and Keria Williamson won with a time of 4:30.21

Durfee meanwhile had triple winners in Shakira Cadet and Emma McDonnell. Cadet won the high jump, triple jump and 100 meters. McDonnell took first in the long jump, 100 meter hurdles and 200 meters. Maggie O’Connell and Kathryn Gauvin were double winners. O’Connell won the mile and 800 meters, while Gauvin took the javelin and 400 meters. Durfee’s Adunoluwa Olubanwo took first in the discus
